That's not me, honest. (And, other than this and a couple other non-profit sites, I really don't spend any time coding HTML either!) I don't know what to say, here. I have considered, and rejected, the urge to hold a hand out for years now. And, sad to say, looking at the What's New page for the first few years after Visual Fred's first appearances (early-2001), you'll see that hardly any new samples were added or old samples updated.

So, what prompted me to do this? The thought that perhaps y'all could inspire me to keep the site more updated. And, occasionally, every now and then, I get an email from someone saying how I had saved their bacon with code they found here. I thought, "gee, if they work for a rich corporation, and have access to the company credit card, I bet they'd have rather had a place to put that to good use!" Think I'm dreaming? I dunno.

The truth is, Visual Basic Programmer's Journal (VBPJ) used to underwrite this site. Not sure they knew that, but there ya go. I'd write articles for them, they'd pay me. I'd repost the code here, oftentimes with significant enhancements, and of course with bug fixes as they became needed. That way, my readers always had access to the latest and presumably greatest samples.

Well, as you all know, Microsoft decided to destroy the programming market by wrecking the language they themselves routinely cited as more popular than Cobol - the language they founded the freakin' company on, fer goodness sake! One thing led to another, and VBPJ became Visual Studio Magazine (VSM).

But I digress. If you have a PayPal account, or a credit card, and would like to step in where VBPJ left off, well let's just say that'd be appreciated quite a bit. To donate just click here, or on the links at the bottom of any page on this site. If you'd like to tell me just how low I've sunk, sure, I'd like to hear from you too.

Thanks...

P.S. -- I've decided to offer a special "free gift" (gotta love that phrase, eh?) to anyone who makes a donation here. Ever wanted to colorize your VB code? I've got a little utility you may like!
